Community Standards
1. Purpose
19News.au is a community platform for sharing useful local updates across Australia. These standards help keep the platform safe, accurate, respectful, and useful for readers, especially when reports involve regional areas, community safety, crime, traffic, weather, events, lost property, or public interest information.
2. What you can post
- Local incidents or updates with clear city, state, suburb, time, and context
- Community events, weather updates, traffic alerts, lost property, and public interest notices
- Photos or source links that you have the right to share
- Direct observations written in careful wording, such as “reported”, “seen”, or “submitted by a community member”
- Links to official notices, reputable sources, police releases, council pages, emergency warnings, or other supporting material when available
3. What you cannot post
- Defamatory, false, exaggerated, or misleading claims
- Private information about others without consent
- Names, photos, addresses, number plates, accusations, or identifying details that create unfair risk to a private person
- Hate speech, harassment, or threats
- Graphic content without a clear public-interest warning
- Copied articles, copied photos, screenshots, or copyrighted material without permission or proper credit
- Fake emergency alerts, fake police/council/government notices, or instructions that conflict with official advice
- Spam, scams, commercial promotions, adult content, gambling, malware, suspicious links, or misleading medical/financial claims
4. Crime, legal, safety, and emergency reports
Crime, court, police, emergency, health, council, government, and safety posts require extra care. Do not name a suspect, claim someone is guilty, publish private addresses, or add police/court details unless those details are supported by an official or clearly reliable source. Use cautious wording where facts are still developing. A source URL or clear source note may be required before approval.
5. Safety & emergencies
19News.au is not an emergency service. If there is immediate danger, call 000 and follow official advice from emergency services, police, fire, ambulance, council, weather, or government agencies. Do not rely on community posts as a substitute for official warnings.
6. Review before publishing
Community reports may be edited, delayed, rejected, unpublished, or deleted if they are unsafe, unsupported, copied, misleading, promotional, abusive, risky, or unsuitable for a local news platform. AI-assisted drafts must be checked by a human before publication and must not invent facts, names, quotes, numbers, official statements, medical claims, or legal outcomes.
7. Reporting, corrections, and removal
You can report content by using the “Report this post” link on an article page or by emailing us directly: contact@unitedtechandsolutions.com.au. You can also use the Credit or Removal page for source credit, image credit, copyright, privacy, correction, or removal review.
We may correct, unpublish, delete, or limit content that violates these standards or applicable laws.
8. Repeat violations
Accounts that repeatedly violate these standards may be restricted or removed.
