The award, announced during the Cannes Film Festival, recognises cities that attract major film and television productions while supporting local jobs, industry growth and creative development. The Gold Coast was recognised alongside global production centres including Toronto, Calgary and Zagreb. Recent productions filmed on the Gold Coast include Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2, Anaconda, Nautilus, The Bluff and Black Snow Season 2, helping inject more than $316 million into the local economy and supporting thousands of jobs. Tom Tate said the recognition confirmed the city’s status as Australia’s leading screen production destination. The city is also investing in expanded studio infrastructure through partnerships with Shadowbox Studios and upgrades to the Miami Arts Depot.
