Community reporting
Share local information that helps people stay informed
19News.au gives Australian residents, local reporters, organisations and community groups a place to share useful information from the communities they know. Regional updates can be difficult to reach when newsrooms are covering a wide area. A road issue near a farm, a local event, a public safety concern, a missing item, a weather impact or a developing community story may matter greatly to nearby people even when it is not yet visible in larger news coverage.
Our community reporting pathway makes local voices easier to find while keeping review, safety and accountability at the centre. A submission is not automatically published. Accounts and reports are reviewed before publication, and 19News.au may ask for more information, add context, correct details, delay publication or decline material that cannot be verified or does not meet our standards.
What you can share
Useful submissions may include local incidents, road and traffic information, community events, weather impacts, service disruptions, public-interest updates, local business or organisation announcements, lost and found notices, developing stories and information that helps neighbours understand what is happening around them. Reports from regional towns, farms, mines, highways, suburbs and smaller communities are welcome when they are lawful, relevant and responsibly presented.
For urgent danger, contact the appropriate emergency service first. 19News.au is not an emergency service. Call 000 in Australia when there is an immediate threat to life or property, and follow official instructions from police, fire, ambulance, councils and other authorities.
Include the details readers need
How review works
- Create or sign in to an account. Account details help us contact contributors and reduce misuse.
- Prepare a clear report. Add the title, summary, location, category, source and any permitted image.
- Submit for review. We check relevance, safety, clarity, sources and policy concerns.
- Stay available for questions. We may ask for clarification before a report is published or updated.
Accuracy, corrections and removal
Contributors are responsible for taking reasonable care with submitted information. Do not present rumours as confirmed facts, identify a person as a criminal without reliable public evidence, publish private personal information, or make claims that could put someone at risk. Sources are encouraged, and corrections are made when required. If information changes, tell us promptly so the public record can be reviewed and updated.
People can request a correction, source credit, image credit or removal review through our Credit or Removal page. Requests are assessed fairly and may require supporting information.
Reporters and publishers are welcome
Local journalists, independent reporters, councils, community groups, service organisations and news publications can share leads or public-interest information with 19News.au. Publications may reference community information with proper credit and should verify details independently before republishing. We welcome responsible collaboration that helps important local stories reach more Australians while preserving attribution and accuracy.
