Queensland Police have arrested a 13-year-old boy following an alleged vehicle theft in Manoora, Cairns. According to police, officers from the Cairns Dog Squad located the teenager at a unit complex on Murray Street during the early hours of 2 September 2026.

Police allege the teenager had been involved with a Holden Trax that was abandoned on Macilwraith Street shortly after 3am. The vehicle was allegedly stolen during a break-in at a Murray Street residence several hours earlier. Officers began searching for the vehicle and people allegedly connected to the incident.

The Cairns Dog Squad assisted officers in locating the teenager at the unit complex. The arrest forms part of ongoing police efforts to respond to vehicle theft and property crime across the Cairns region.

Vehicle theft remains a significant community-safety concern because stolen cars can be used in further offences and can create risks for other motorists and pedestrians. Police investigations into suspected vehicle thefts commonly involve examining CCTV, tracking vehicle movements, speaking with witnesses and collecting forensic evidence.
