An 18-year-old man has been charged following a fatal traffic collision on Brand Highway in Tarcoola Beach, near Geraldton, that claimed the life of a 75-year-old driver. The charge follows an investigation by the Western Australia Police Force's Major Crash Investigation Section into the serious crash, which occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, 25 July.

Police allege the collision occurred at approximately 4:45pm when a green Suzuki Sierra sport utility vehicle and a green Holden Commodore sedan collided on Brand Highway in Tarcoola Beach. Emergency services attended the scene, where the 75-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the Suzuki was found to have sustained critical injuries. Despite the efforts of first responders, he died at the scene.

The driver of the Holden, an 18-year-old man from the Geraldton area, and his 16-year-old female passenger were not physically injured in the collision. Following inquiries, police charged the 18-year-old with one count of dangerous driving causing death. The charge will now be considered through the court process.
