Police are investigating a serious armed home invasion at Cannon Hill in Brisbane, where three men allegedly broke into a residence late Thursday night and a firearm was discharged during the incident.

The incident occurred at a home on McKie Crescent at about 11:22pm. Police allege three armed men entered the property after breaking through a glass door and demanded money from the resident.

During the incident, a firearm was discharged and a bullet struck the ceiling of the house. The resident was not injured but retreated into a bedroom while the offenders remained inside the property.

The alleged offenders then took keys from the residence before leaving the property in the vehicle they had arrived in. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are considering whether the home invasion was specifically targeted.

Detectives are appealing for information from members of the public who may have witnessed suspicious activity around McKie Crescent or surrounding streets at the time of the incident. Police are also seeking any available CCTV, dashcam or other footage that could assist the investigation.

The incident has raised concerns among residents because of the use of a firearm during the alleged break-in. While nobody was physically injured, the discharge of a weapon inside an occupied home has increased the seriousness of the investigation.

Police have not confirmed the identities of the offenders and investigations remain ongoing. The alleged offenders fled before police could make an immediate arrest, and detectives are working to establish their movements before and after the incident.

Residents in the surrounding area are being encouraged to provide relevant information to police rather than approaching or confronting anyone they believe may be connected to the incident.

The investigation remains active, and further information may be released as detectives examine evidence and identify possible suspects.

The incident was reported today, 11 September 2026, following the alleged home invasion on Thursday night.
