A man in Bundaberg, Queensland, has appeared before a magistrates’ court facing a total of 25 charges connected to alleged break-ins and other offences.

Shaun David Wheeler appeared at Bundaberg Magistrates Court, where the charges included 14 counts of allegedly breaking into premises with the intention of committing indictable offences. He also faces allegations involving unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, entering a dwelling to commit an offence, and several drug- and weapons-related matters.

The proceedings mark a further stage in the case as authorities and prosecutors prepare the evidence required for the next steps in the legal process.

During the hearing, the prosecution indicated that most of the charges were expected to proceed on indictment. This means those matters may be dealt with in a higher court rather than being resolved entirely at the magistrates’ court level. The court adjourned the matter until 8 December 2026 for a committal mention. Briefs of evidence have been ordered to help prepare the case for its next stage.

Wheeler remains in custody. No finding of guilt has been established by the court proceedings described in the published report, and the allegations remain subject to the legal process.

The 25 charges cover a range of alleged conduct, including property-related offences and matters involving drugs and weapons. The number and variety of charges mean that the prosecution must prepare the relevant evidence and establish how the individual allegations will proceed through the courts.

A committal process helps determine whether a case involving serious charges is ready to be sent to a higher court for further proceedings. The next appearance will provide an opportunity for the court to review the progress of the case and the preparation of the evidence.

The allegations should not be treated as proven simply because charges have been laid. The accused is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until guilt is established through the appropriate legal process. The next scheduled court date is 8 December 2026. Further details about the individual allegations and the evidence are expected to emerge through subsequent proceedings, subject to what is made public by the court.
