Queensland Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was found dead inside a unit at Woodridge, south of Brisbane, on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services were called to a property on North Road, Woodridge, at approximately 7:15am on 6 October 2026 to conduct a welfare check. Officers attended the unit and discovered the body of a man believed to be in his 60s inside the property.

Police established a crime scene at the unit after officers identified an obvious injury to the man. Logan District Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said investigators were treating the death as a homicide, although police have not yet released details about the exact nature of the injury or confirmed the cause of death.

The welfare check had reportedly been requested by someone who knew the man. Police are now working to establish what happened inside the unit and the circumstances leading up to the man's death.

Detectives are examining the property and surrounding area as part of the investigation. Specialist officers are expected to assess forensic evidence at the scene and establish a timeline of events before the man's body was discovered.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have been in the North Road area between about 4pm on Monday, 5 October, and 8am on Tuesday, 6 October. Police are asking residents, motorists and other members of the public to report anything suspicious they may have seen during that period.

Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the death, and no suspect has been publicly identified. The investigation remains in its early stages as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Authorities are also expected to examine available CCTV and other recordings from the surrounding area. Any footage showing unusual activity near the property could help investigators establish movements before and after the incident.

Residents are being encouraged to provide information directly to police rather than approaching anyone they believe could be connected to the investigation. Members of the public who witnessed suspicious activity or have relevant information are being asked to contact Queensland Police.

The investigation is continuing at the Woodridge property, with detectives working to determine how the man died and whether another person was involved.

At this stage, police have described the death as a homicide investigation, but further details about the circumstances have not yet been confirmed.
