Emergency crews rushed to a Parramatta Park apartment complex in Cairns after a major unit fire caused significant damage to the property, prompting a police investigation that resulted in an arson charge against a local man.

The incident occurred on Draper Street, Parramatta Park, when emergency services were called after reports of a fire inside a first-floor unit. Queensland Fire Department crews responded quickly, with four firefighting crews attending the scene to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to surrounding apartments.
