Community support groups in the Wimmera region have introduced a new welcome guide and settlement support brochure aimed at helping migrants and new residents settle comfortably into local life. The guide, available both online and in printed form, includes information about English language classes, schools, healthcare services, emergency contacts, transport assistance, interpreter support, and community programs for families and young people. It also explains important aspects of Australian daily life such as renting homes, connecting utilities, accessing government services, and understanding local customs and weather conditions. Settlement Services representatives said the initiative was created to reduce isolation among newcomers and make it easier for families to access important services and community activities across the region. Local organisations and councils throughout Wimmera and Nhill will receive copies of the guide over the coming weeks to help support newly arrived residents.
