The National Rugby League's flagship Magic Round festival will remain in Brisbane until at least 2032 after the Queensland Government secured a contract extension with the league. The previous hosting agreement was due to expire at the end of 2027, but the new deal ensures the four-day rugby league spectacle will continue to be staged at Suncorp Stadium for another six years. Premier David Crisafulli said the agreement protected one of Queensland’s most significant sporting events amid interest from rival bidders in Sydney, Perth and New Zealand. Magic Round brings all 16 NRL teams to Brisbane to play eight matches over four days and has also incorporated the NRLW State of Origin in recent years. The 2026 edition begins this week, with tens of thousands of fans from across Australia expected to attend, delivering a major tourism and economic boost to Brisbane and Queensland.
