A pedestrian has died following a collision on the Midland Highway at Magpie, near Ballarat, on Friday night, 2 October 2026.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 10:40 pm near Magpie Road. The man was reportedly walking along the highway when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

Emergency services attended the scene and provided assistance to the pedestrian. Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.

The vehicle was driven by a 54-year-old woman, who was the sole occupant. She stopped following the collision and spoke with police. Authorities have not reported that any charges have been laid against the driver.
