Queensland Police are investigating the sudden death of a man at Glenwood, near Gympie, after emergency services were called to a property following reports of an altercation.
Police were called to a property on Leggets Lane, Glenwood, at approximately 2:30am on Saturday, 25 July 2026, after reports that a man had fallen following an incident involving another man.
A 40-year-old man from Kallangur suffered critical injuries during the incident and was declared deceased at the scene a short time later. Police have commenced investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
A 33-year-old man from Burpengary was taken into custody and was under police guard at Gympie Hospital while inquiries continued. Detectives from the Maryborough Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating the incident and are seeking information from witnesses.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, attended the property, or has relevant footage such as CCTV, mobile phone recordings or other information to come forward. Investigators say information from the public may assist in understanding what occurred before the man’s death.
The Glenwood investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released further details about the circumstances leading up to the altercation. As the matter is under investigation, any allegations or possible offences have not been tested in court.
