Dawn La Puma has released a new book exploring the challenges, humour and realities of dating later in life, particularly for people living in regional Australia. Her book, Sixty, Single and Still Sizzling… the Search for Mr Right, draws on her personal experiences navigating online dating as a woman over 60 in rural Western Australia. The memoir-style work reflects on the misunderstandings, awkward encounters and unexpected moments that can come with seeking companionship later in life, while also highlighting issues such as loneliness, resilience and maintaining a sense of humour. After years of online dating experiences, Ms La Puma eventually found a long-term partner in regional WA, with the couple later purchasing a home and small general store together. The book also examines the growing number of older Australians turning to dating platforms to find companionship and connection.
