A Rockhampton man has faced court after being charged following a major police investigation into an alleged organised drug trafficking network operating across Central Queensland. The 37-year-old man, identified as Shane Matthew McPherson, is facing multiple serious drug-related charges after police conducted an eight-month investigation targeting the alleged supply and distribution of illicit substances.
The investigation, known as Operation Xray Urbane, was carried out by Queensland Police as part of efforts to disrupt alleged organised crime activity in the Rockhampton region. Police allege the operation uncovered a network involved in the trafficking and supply of dangerous drugs, including cocaine and MDMA.
During the investigation, police executed multiple search warrants across the region and seized significant quantities of alleged illicit substances. Authorities reported the seizure of approximately two kilograms of cocaine, 309 grams of MDMA, more than $120,000 in cash and three vehicles allegedly linked to criminal activity or purchased using proceeds of crime.
McPherson appeared in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 20, 2026, where his legal representatives requested a delay to his bail application. The request was made after late disclosure of evidence, including more than 100 pages of material related to the prosecution case. The matter is expected to return to court at a later date.
Police have charged McPherson with a number of offences, including trafficking dangerous drugs as part of serious organised crime, supplying dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing property suspected of being connected to criminal activity. No pleas have been entered at this stage, and the allegations will be tested through the court process.
Queensland Police have continued to target alleged drug trafficking operations throughout regional areas, saying organised drug networks can have significant impacts on local communities. Authorities have stated that investigations into drug supply chains often involve lengthy surveillance, intelligence gathering and cooperation between specialist police units.
The Rockhampton region has previously been the focus of major police operations targeting alleged drug distribution networks. Investigations in Central Queensland have resulted in arrests and the seizure of substances including cocaine, methylamphetamine and other dangerous drugs.
Police have encouraged members of the public to report suspected drug activity, stating that community information can assist investigators in identifying and disrupting illegal operations.
The case involving McPherson remains before the courts. Under Australian law, accused people are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and the final outcome will depend on evidence presented during future court proceedings.
