The pursuit came to an end when the Ford Territory collided with two other vehicles. The crash involved a silver Mercedes-Benz C250 and a blue Volkswagen T-Roc. Emergency services attended the scene following the collision. The accused driver and the drivers of the other vehicles were taken to hospital with minor injuries, according to reports.
Police allege the 29-year-old man attempted to leave the crash scene but was apprehended shortly afterwards. He has since been charged with a number of offences, including dangerous operation of a vehicle, evading police, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence. He is also facing additional learner-driver-related charges.
The man is scheduled to appear before Richlands Magistrates Court. Police are continuing their investigation and have appealed for members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or captured relevant footage on dashcams or CCTV to come forward.
The incident highlights the dangers associated with high-speed driving and attempts to evade police, particularly on busy suburban roads. A stolen vehicle being driven at speed can create significant risks for motorists, pedestrians and emergency responders.
