A teenager has been remanded in custody following an alleged stabbing incident in Alexandra Hills, Queensland, with police also bringing additional property-related charges connected to an alleged break-in at a local pizza restaurant. The matter appeared before the Cleveland Children’s Court, where the seriousness of the allegations was discussed.

Police allege the 17-year-old boy was involved in a physical altercation with another teenager on Devon Road, Alexandra Hills, on the evening of July 16. Emergency services were called around 7:40pm after reports of a confrontation involving a group of teenagers who were known to each other. A 16-year-old boy was located with serious injuries and was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

Following investigations, police located and arrested the 17-year-old nearby on Oxford Street, Alexandra Hills. He was charged with one count of unlawful wounding in relation to the alleged stabbing. Police have stated that investigations are continuing and have appealed for anyone with relevant CCTV footage, dashcam recordings or information about the incident to come forward.

During the court appearance, prosecutors revealed that the teenager was also facing additional charges connected to an unrelated incident involving Scott’s Pizza on Cambridge Road, Alexandra Hills. The new allegations relate to entering premises and attempting to enter premises. The charges were presented shortly before the court appearance, and defence lawyers told the court the teenager had not yet been fully informed about the additional allegations.

Because the accused is under 18, his identity cannot be publicly released under Queensland youth justice laws. The court heard that due to the seriousness of the alleged stabbing offence, the matter would proceed through the appropriate children’s court process. The teenager did not apply for bail during the appearance and was remanded in custody until a future court date.

Police investigations into youth violence incidents often involve examining CCTV footage, interviewing witnesses and collecting forensic evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding alleged offences.
