A series of serious road crashes across the Townsville region has resulted in one death and several people being seriously injured over a 24-hour period.

One of the incidents involved a 68-year-old motorcyclist who died after losing control of his motorcycle at Bushland Beach. Emergency services attended the scene, but the rider could not be saved.

Another serious incident occurred on Aramac Torrens Creek Road, where a man in his 70s suffered life-threatening chest injuries after his vehicle rolled. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was later reported to be in a stable condition.

A separate single-vehicle crash occurred on Sir Leslie Thiess Drive near The Ville, where another person suffered potentially life-threatening pelvic injuries. The person was transported to hospital and later reported to be stable.

Emergency services also responded to a head-on collision on Mount Low Parkway, where a woman was treated for shock.

Earlier in the period, another motorcyclist in his 30s was involved in a collision with a car in Cranbrook. He remained in serious but stable condition.

A further crash on Hervey Range Road involved two vehicles, with six people assessed by emergency crews. One woman was reportedly trapped in the wreckage before being assisted.

The concentration of serious crashes has prompted renewed concerns about road safety across the Townsville region. Authorities are urging motorists to take extra care, particularly on roads where speed, fatigue, changing conditions or other hazards may increase the risk of a serious collision.
