St Vincent de Paul Society Victoria, commonly known as Vinnies, has launched its 2026 Winter Appeal as increasing numbers of Victorians seek assistance amid ongoing cost-of-living pressures. Survey data compiled with You Gov found that more than half of Australian households are cutting back on essentials such as groceries, medication and utility bills. Since February, Vinnies’ emergency welfare call center has reported a 44 per cent increase in requests for fuel vouchers and a 26 per cent rise in demand for food parcels. Funds raised through the appeal will support people experiencing homelessness, poverty and financial hardship across the state.
