A 19-year-old man has been arrested following an alleged road-rage incident in Greenwith in Adelaide’s northern suburbs during the early hours of Monday morning.

South Australia Police said officers were called to the intersection of Lake Gairdner Parade and Rifle Range Road at approximately 2:15am on 5 October 2026 after receiving reports that a Ford Territory had allegedly rammed a rideshare vehicle several times.

The two vehicles eventually stopped at the roundabout. Police said the driver of the Ford Territory then allegedly ran from the scene before officers located him a short distance away outside his home.

The 19-year-old Greenwith man was arrested after police located him. Authorities said he initially refused to accompany officers for breath analysis. He subsequently recorded a blood-alcohol reading of 0.116, which is more than twice the legal limit for a fully licensed driver in South Australia.

Police checks also allegedly found that the young man was currently disqualified from driving.

The rideshare vehicle was carrying two people at the time of the alleged incident. The 31-year-old rideshare driver and his 25-year-old passenger escaped with minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged road-rage incident and are seeking witnesses who may have seen what happened.

The 19-year-old was charged with drink driving, driving while disqualified, failing to comply with a direction and two counts of endangering life. He was released on bail and is due to appear before the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 27 November 2026.

The Greenwith incident was one of several serious road incidents attended by South Australian police over the previous 24 hours.

Earlier on Sunday night, a 53-year-old man died following a collision involving a sedan and an SUV at the intersection of Penfold and King roads at Virginia. The driver of the SUV and five passengers, including four children, were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Major crash investigators are examining that separate incident.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the Greenwith incident or has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations against the 19-year-old have not been proven in court.
