After the incident, the occupants of the Ford contacted police. They were instructed to attend Tuggeranong Police Station, where officers provided first aid to the injured teenager. ACT Ambulance Service paramedics subsequently transported the teenager to hospital with serious injuries.
Police established a crime scene in Conder as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At approximately 11:30 pm, officers reportedly saw a man emerge from a bush on Greaves Place and enter a waiting red Audi.
Investigators later located the Audi parked outside the 29-year-old man’s home in Gordon. Police arrested the man, who was subject to parole conditions at the time.
The man was charged with using a firearm to endanger human life and was expected to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday, 10 October. The charge is an allegation, and the court process will determine the outcome of the case.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are seeking information from members of the public who may have witnessed the vehicles travelling through the area that evening.
Investigators are particularly interested in anyone who was driving in Conder or Banks at around 10 pm on Friday.
