A special awards ceremony was held in Mackay today, recognising Queensland Police Service members for their commitment and service to the community. A total of 73 QPS members from the Mackay Whitsunday District received medals, certificates and other awards.

The ceremony recognised officers and service members for their work across a range of duties and achievements. The awards highlight the contribution of frontline personnel who serve communities throughout the Mackay and Whitsunday region.

Police officers regularly face challenging situations while responding to emergencies, investigating crime, supporting victims and maintaining public safety. Recognition ceremonies provide an opportunity to acknowledge those efforts and the dedication required in policing.

The Mackay Whitsunday District covers a large regional area, meaning officers can be required to respond across urban communities as well as more remote locations. Their work includes general policing, investigations, traffic enforcement, community engagement and emergency response.
