Construction of Sydney Metro West has reached another major milestone, with the first sections of railway track set to be installed at Sydney Olympic Park.

The 24-kilometre Sydney Metro West project will connect Westmead with Sydney's CBD, creating a new high-capacity rail link across some of the city's busiest and fastest-growing areas.

The latest development means construction is moving beyond tunnelling and station works towards the installation of the railway infrastructure that will eventually allow metro trains to operate along the line.

Track installation is scheduled to begin at Sydney Olympic Park, an important location on the Metro West route. The area is already a major destination for sporting events, concerts and large-scale gatherings, and the future metro station is expected to improve public transport access to the precinct.
