A Go Fund Me campaign has raised more than $65,000 to support the family of 38-year-old Steven Mattaboni, who was killed in a shark attack while spearfishing off Rottnest Island near Horseshoe Reef. Mattaboni was in the water with friends when the attack occurred around 1 km north-west of the island. His friends rushed him to Geordie Bay jetty and performed CPR, but paramedics were unable to revive him. He has been remembered by family, friends, and his football club as a devoted father and loyal, kind-hearted man. The fundraiser, started by a friend of his wife Shirene, aims to help her and their two daughters cope with the sudden loss, offering both emotional and financial support. By Monday afternoon, donations had exceeded $65,000 from nearly 600 contributors, reflecting strong community support during the tragedy.
