Western Australia Police homicide detectives have launched an investigation after a man in his 60s was found unresponsive in Fremantle and later died in hospital. Emergency services were called to South Terrace, near Douglas Street, in the early hours of Saturday morning following reports of a man requiring medical assistance.

Police said the man was located at approximately 2:05am before paramedics attended the scene. He was transported to Fiona Stanley Hospital for treatment; however, he later died from his injuries. Due to the circumstances surrounding the death, detectives from the Homicide Squad became involved in the investigation.

Two men, both aged in their 20s, were arrested at the scene and are assisting police with inquiries. At the time of reporting, no charges had been laid against either person as detectives continued to investigate the events leading up to the man’s death.

The incident occurred in a busy area of Fremantle, a well-known port city located approximately 20 kilometres southwest of Perth’s central business district. Police have established a crime scene and are working to gather evidence, speak with witnesses and determine the circumstances that resulted in the man’s death.
