A suburban group home in Broome, operated by Building Dreams Services (BDS), is facing allegations of neglect from former staff. Reports claim residents were crammed into a three-bedroom house, some sleeping on mattresses in windowless rooms, with limited air-conditioning despite extreme heat. Staff allege missed medication for an elderly dialysis patient and raised child welfare concerns after a child lived at the property alongside a drug user. The NDIS watchdog has reopened a complaint initially closed in February, while WA’s Child Protection Unit has received reports about the child’s welfare. The provider, run by Perth-based Sarifah Seaman, is one of many unregistered NDIS operators in the Kimberley region not subject to the same compliance requirements as registered providers.
