Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 27-year-old Sunshine West man following an alleged assault involving a 10-year-old boy and a 46-year-old woman in Docklands, near the intersection of Spencer Street and La Trobe Street. Victoria Police say the incident occurred at about 1pm on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, when the boy was allegedly punched in the upper body.

Police allege the woman, who was with the boy at the time, intervened after the alleged assault. She was then allegedly stabbed in the upper body with a pair of scissors. Both the boy and the woman were taken to hospital for treatment. Police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

The incident happened in a busy part of Melbourne, close to Victoria Police facilities. According to police, officers in the vicinity responded quickly after the alleged attack was reported. A 27-year-old man from Sunshine West was arrested at the scene, and police seized a pair of scissors.
