A 33-year-old man has been charged with six offences following a police pursuit and an arrest in Kanwal, on the New South Wales Central Coast. The charges relate to alleged breaches of an apprehended domestic violence order (ADVO), a vehicle pursuit and other alleged offences, according to NSW Police. NSW Police Public Site

Police said officers from the Tuggerah Lakes Police District were called to a home on Donald Avenue, Kanwal, at about 3:45 pm on Friday, 2 October 2026, after receiving reports that a man was allegedly breaching an ADVO.

The man reportedly left the address in a Mitsubishi utility. Police attempted to stop the vehicle on nearby Edna Avenue, but officers allege the driver failed to stop as directed. A pursuit was initiated but was terminated a short time later when the vehicle stopped on Yennora Avenue.

Police said the driver then left the area on foot. Following further inquiries, officers allegedly saw the man running from a home on Murrawal Road in Kanwal. A short foot pursuit followed, and the man was arrested nearby before being taken to Wyong Police Station.

The man was charged with six offences, including two counts of contravening a domestic AVO, knowingly contravening an AVO for a third time within 28 days, failing to stop for police during a pursuit while allegedly driving recklessly, driving while his licence was suspended, and hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty.

Police reported that the man was refused bail and was due to appear before Local Bail Division Court 6 on Saturday, 3 October.

The charges are allegations, and the accused is entitled to the presumption of innocence. The matter is now subject to the court process, where the allegations may be tested.

The incident highlights the police response to reported domestic violence order breaches and alleged failure to comply with police directions. No further information about the people involved or the circumstances behind the original ADVO report was provided in the police statement.
