Mount Gambier’s Valley Lakes was the centre of attention for disc golf as the 2026 Rumble Disc Golf tournament brought more than 70 competitors to the city. Players travelled from across Australia, including Victoria, Adelaide, Tasmania and New South Wales, to compete on the Mount Gambier Disc Golf course.

The tournament featured 13 different categories, providing competitors with opportunities to compete against players of varying ages and skill levels. The event also delivered a strong showing from local Mount Gambier competitors, with several players finishing at the top of their respective divisions.

Local player Kate Eldridge claimed first place in the FA1 category, adding a major local success to the tournament. Justin Clarke also produced an impressive performance, winning the MA40 division with a score of six-under.

Other strong performances included Jedd Sealy Smith, who won the MA4 category, while Miley Nicholson finished second in the FJ15 division. Another local success came from Jenny Duggin, who won the FA40 category after a standout performance.

The results demonstrate the strength of Mount Gambier’s local disc golf community, while the number of visitors competing in the tournament also highlights the ability of sporting events to attract participants from outside the region.

Disc golf combines elements of traditional golf with the skills required to throw a flying disc accurately towards a target basket. Competitors need to consider distance, direction, obstacles and changing course conditions when planning each throw. Players compete over a series of holes, with the objective of completing the course using as few throws as possible.

Hosting an event with competitors from multiple states provides local players with valuable experience and an opportunity to test their skills against a broader field. It also gives visitors a chance to experience Mount Gambier and the Valley Lakes area.

The strong local results were one of the highlights of this year's Rumble tournament. With several Mount Gambier competitors recording category victories or podium finishes, the event proved successful both competitively and for the local disc golf community.

The tournament's return to Valley Lakes also reinforces the area's role as a venue for outdoor sporting activities. Events such as the Rumble can bring competitors, supporters and visitors into the region while providing opportunities for local clubs and athletes to grow their participation.

For Mount Gambier's disc golf players, the 2026 tournament provided a chance to compete on home ground while welcoming competitors from across Australia. The performances of Eldridge, Clarke, Sealy Smith and Duggin, along with Nicholson's second-place finish, gave local players plenty to celebrate.

The 2026 Rumble Disc Golf tournament has therefore delivered a strong result for Mount Gambier, combining interstate participation with notable local performances at Valley Lakes.
