Show store sale at Mareeba Saleyards in July. Far North Queensland cattle producers are being encouraged to enter a new live cattle competition that will showcase the region’s top livestock during the annual Cairns Show. The contest, sponsored by Nutrien Ag Solutions and the Cairns Show Association, will be held at the Mareeba Saleyards on Thursday, 16 July as part of a special Cairns Show store sale. Tom Mugford said the initiative will recognise the highest-quality cattle produced across Far North Queensland and provide graziers with an opportunity to earn regional acclaim for excellence in beef production. The event is also expected to attract strong buyer interest from cattle breeders, graziers and local butchers looking to purchase premium livestock and promote their beef as some of the best produced in the region. Further details on competition classes and entry deadlines will be released in the coming weeks.
