A man in his 40s has died following a multi-vehicle crash at Trentham Cliffs, just 10 kilometres from Mildura near the Victoria–New South Wales border. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Dansons Road and the Sturt Highway shortly after 8:20am after a van rear-ended another vehicle, causing that vehicle to collide with a B-double truck travelling in the opposite direction. Paramedics from Ambulance Victoria treated the victim, but he died at the scene. Another driver was transported to Mildura Base Public Hospital for mandatory testing. No other injuries were reported. The crash occurred only a few kilometres from an earlier truck rollover involving a 22-year-old driver, who escaped without injury. Authorities have closed the Sturt Highway between Buronga and Euston, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area while investigations continue and a report is prepared for the coroner.
