Queensland Police have charged five people following two investigations into alleged drug trafficking in Cairns. The operations, launched in August, targeted the alleged supply of dangerous drugs within the Cairns Safe Night Precinct. Police executed search warrants at properties in Mount Sheridan, Cairns City and Cairns North as part of the investigations.

Officers from the Major and Organised Crime Squad, Far North, worked with other specialist police teams during the operations. The investigations are focused on disrupting the alleged supply of dangerous drugs and identifying people involved in organised criminal activity.

The police action involved searches of multiple properties and the gathering of evidence connected with suspected drug offences. Five people have now been charged as a result of the investigations.

The operation highlights continued police efforts to target drug trafficking in and around Cairns' entertainment precinct. Authorities have been increasing enforcement activity against organised crime and dangerous-drug supply across Far North Queensland.

The charges remain allegations and will be dealt with through the Queensland court system. Those charged are entitled to the presumption of innocence unless the allegations are proven in court.

Police investigations into the alleged drug supply network remain ongoing, and further charges are possible as officers continue examining evidence obtained during the searches.
