Northern Territory Police are investigating after three Nissan Navara vehicles were allegedly stolen during a burglary at a business in Pinelands. Two vehicles have since been recovered, while officers continue searching for a third.
The burglary was reported to Palmerston Police Station at about 8am on Sunday, September 6, after the business owner discovered that the premises had allegedly been unlawfully entered overnight. The three vehicles were subsequently detected travelling south along the Stuart Highway, prompting a coordinated response involving Strike Force Trident and police from Palmerston, Adelaide River and Daly River.
Police located one grey Nissan Navara abandoned near Acacia at about 8:40am. A second grey Navara was later found abandoned near Stapleton Creek, north of Adelaide River. The third vehicle is a white Nissan Navara, registration CA73VN. Police allege the vehicle was later involved in a fuel drive-off at Adelaide River before continuing south.
Daly River Police deployed tyre spikes in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the measure was unsuccessful and the Navara continued from the area. Investigators believe it may have travelled towards Wadeye, with local police notified as the search continued.
Strike Force Trident detectives are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting further inquiries to identify the people involved and recover the remaining vehicle. Police are asking anyone who sees the white Navara not to approach it and instead contact police immediately.
