The biennial Yorke Peninsula Saltwater Classic attracted strong crowds to Stansbury and Port Vincent over the April 17–19 weekend, celebrating vintage boats, classic cars and coastal community life. Despite concerns surrounding rising fuel costs and algal bloom conditions, visitors travelled from across South Australia and interstate to take part in the event. The festival featured sailing vessels, steam-powered boats, electric craft, classic vehicle displays, live entertainment and maritime traditions including the Blessing of the Fleet. Event vice-chair Donald Triggs said community support and favourable weather contributed to the event’s success, while backing from the South Australian Tourism Commission helped support logistics and promotion. Organisers said the event once again showcased the strong connection between Yorke Peninsula communities and their maritime heritage.
