A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a police pursuit that travelled through northern New South Wales and into the Queensland border region before ending in Casino.
According to NSW Police, the incident occurred on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, after Queensland Police Service officers alerted their NSW counterparts about a vehicle being monitored by Queensland Pol Air.
The vehicle had allegedly been involved in an earlier incident near Brisbane. Police began monitoring its movements as it travelled towards the New South Wales border.
At approximately 6 pm, officers from the Richmond Police District, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and Dog Unit spotted the vehicle travelling south along Summerland Way near Woodenbong.
When officers attempted to approach the vehicle, the driver allegedly made a U-turn and headed back towards the Queensland border.
Police later located the vehicle on Gradys Creek Road near Loadstone. Officers directed the driver to stop, but he allegedly failed to comply. A pursuit was then initiated.
The pursuit continued for several kilometres through regional roads. Police deployed road spikes on two separate occasions in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
Despite these efforts, the driver allegedly continued travelling through the townships of Wiangaree and Kyogle before heading towards Casino.
Police followed the vehicle through several streets within Casino. The pursuit eventually ended on Rosewood Avenue, where the vehicle stopped and officers arrested the driver.
The driver was identified as a 19-year-old man. Two passengers, a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl, were also arrested at the scene but were later released pending further inquiries.
The 19-year-old man was taken to Casino Police Station, where he was charged with six offences.
These included police pursuit – not stop, drive dangerously (second offence), driving with an expired licence, using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 kilometres per hour, possessing goods suspected of being stolen, and providing police with a false name or home address.
Police refused bail, and the man was scheduled to appear before Bail Division Court 1 on Thursday, 5 November 2026.
The incident involved cooperation between Queensland Police and several NSW Police units, demonstrating the importance of cross-border coordination when vehicles linked to alleged criminal incidents travel between states.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the original incident near Brisbane and the events that led to the pursuit.
The charges against the accused remain allegations and will be considered through the court process.
