Three youths have been arrested and charged after a reported break-in at a school in Littlehampton in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills.

Police were called shortly before 3am on Wednesday, 7 October, following an alarm activation at a school on Baker Street in Littlehampton. Officers attended the location and found that access had allegedly been gained to the school’s gym. Police also reported that property inside the school had been damaged during the incident.

Patrol officers conducted a search of the surrounding area following the reported break-in. A group of youths was subsequently located nearby on the Princes Highway.

Three youths were arrested in connection with the incident. Police identified them as a 14-year-old boy from Seaford Meadows, a 13-year-old boy from Harrogate and a 12-year-old boy from Mount Barker. All three were charged with serious criminal trespass and property damage.

The arrests followed a rapid police response after the school's alarm was activated. Officers first attended the school to establish what had occurred and then searched nearby areas for people who may have been involved. The discovery of the youths in the vicinity of the school formed part of the subsequent police investigation.

Police have not released information about the extent or value of the property damage, nor have they detailed whether anything was stolen from the school. Investigators are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged break-in.

The three accused youths are now subject to the court process, with their bail yet to be determined. Because the matter involves children, authorities have released only limited information about those arrested. The allegations have not been tested in court, and the youths are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Police are also asking members of the public who may have witnessed suspicious activity around the school during the early hours of Wednesday morning to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in any CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist with establishing the movements of people or vehicles around Baker Street and the Princes Highway.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours when the school was not occupied by students and staff. Police are continuing their inquiries to determine exactly how the property was entered and what occurred inside the school before officers arrived.

Authorities have encouraged anyone with relevant information or footage to contact Crime Stoppers. Community members who have security cameras covering nearby streets or properties may also have information that could assist investigators.

The investigation remains ongoing, and further charges may be considered depending on the evidence gathered by police.
