A dramatic traffic collision has occurred in Brisbane's southern suburb of Archerfield, where a Toyota Yaris slammed into the side of a Brisbane City Council bus, leaving the small hatchback embedded in the vehicle. The crash happened at approximately 6:30pm on Wednesday at the intersection of Beaudesert Road and Granard Road, prompting a large emergency response from police, paramedics and firefighters.

Images from the scene showed the force of the impact had lifted the Toyota into the air before it crashed into the side of the bus. The front section of the Yaris became lodged so deeply inside the bus that it could be seen protruding through the opposite side of the vehicle. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles and temporarily disrupted traffic through the busy intersection.

Emergency crews worked quickly to rescue the female driver of the Toyota, who was trapped inside the damaged vehicle following the crash. She was assessed at the scene and transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition after complaining of leg pain. Authorities confirmed her injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Fortunately, the Brisbane City Council bus was not carrying any passengers at the time of the incident. The bus driver escaped without injury and did not require transport to hospital. Officials said the bus was believed to have been travelling back to a council depot when the collision occurred, preventing what could have been a far more serious incident had passengers been on board.

Queensland Police attended the scene and secured the intersection while investigators examined the crash site. Traffic delays were experienced as emergency crews removed the damaged vehicles and cleared debris from the roadway. Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision, including the movements of both vehicles before impact.

Witnesses expressed shock at the severity of the crash after images emerged showing the Toyota lodged inside the bus. Many commented that the outcome could have been much worse if the bus had been carrying passengers during the evening commute.
