Emergency crews worked quickly to rescue the female driver of the Toyota, who was trapped inside the damaged vehicle following the crash. She was assessed at the scene and transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition after complaining of leg pain. Authorities confirmed her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Fortunately, the Brisbane City Council bus was not carrying any passengers at the time of the incident. The bus driver escaped without injury and did not require transport to hospital. Officials said the bus was believed to have been travelling back to a council depot when the collision occurred, preventing what could have been a far more serious incident had passengers been on board.
Queensland Police attended the scene and secured the intersection while investigators examined the crash site. Traffic delays were experienced as emergency crews removed the damaged vehicles and cleared debris from the roadway. Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision, including the movements of both vehicles before impact.
Witnesses expressed shock at the severity of the crash after images emerged showing the Toyota lodged inside the bus.
