The man was taken to Burwood Police Station, where police charged him with several offences. These included reckless wounding, using an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and an alleged breach of bail.
A second man, aged 20, was also arrested at Burwood Police Station a short time later. He was charged with common assault and an alleged breach of bail.
Both men were refused bail and were scheduled to appear before Burwood Local Court on Thursday, 24 September 2026.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged assault remain under investigation. Police have not released information establishing a motive for the incident, and the charges remain allegations that will be considered by the court.
