Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force and Victoria Police said in a joint media statement released today that four Melbourne men have been charged with offences linked to alleged online access to and distribution of ISIS propaganda. Officials said ABF officers intercepted two Roxburgh Park men at Melbourne International Airport, first on 29 November 2024 after a flight from Turkey and again on 1 June 2025 before a planned departure, and found “suspicious content” during routine phone examinations. The devices were seized and referred to the AFP, according to the release. Investigators allege forensic analysis showed the men were “sending, sharing and receiving” suspected violent extremist material, including images and videos of past terrorist attacks and other ISIS propaganda. The men, plus two Clyde North men aged 19 and 29, were charged under s474.45C of the Criminal Code, carrying up to five years’ imprisonment. Search warrants were executed on 7 May across Roxburgh Park, Clyde South and Meadow Heights. Officials said an AFP firearm was unintentionally discharged at one site, with no injuries. Three men were refused bail pending 8 May; one received strict bail to return 30 July.
