Bundoora Park Farm is a council-run urban farm that provides educational programs involving agriculture, horticulture and animal handling. It is also used by families, school groups and visitors.
The incident resulted in significant damage to the café and temporarily affected the operation of the popular community facility. The farm later advised visitors that it had been forced to close because of vandalism.
Authorities said the animals at the farm were safe following the incident. Police are continuing to investigate the burglary and are seeking information that could help identify the people involved.
Investigators have specifically appealed to anyone who was travelling through the area around the time of the incident to check dashcam footage. Images recorded by passing motorists could potentially help police identify the offenders or establish their movements before and after the burglary.
Police have also released CCTV footage showing the tractor ram-raid in an effort to generate information from members of the public. Anyone who recognises the people shown in the footage or has information about the stolen tractor and other property is being encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.
