Detectives investigating a fatal stabbing in the Geelong suburb of Norlane have expanded their inquiries to a second crime scene as they work to piece together the events surrounding the deadly attack.

The incident occurred on Alkira Avenue shortly after midday on Sunday, where a 30-year-old local man suffered fatal stab wounds during an altercation involving several people. Despite emergency efforts, the man died at the scene. A woman, aged 28, was also injured and was treated in hospital for minor injuries. Police believe all parties involved were known to one another.

As part of the investigation, detectives established a second crime scene at nearby Cobargo Court. Officers conducted a detailed search of a vacant block of land and surrounding properties after receiving information that evidence connected to the incident may have been discarded there. Investigators examined the area, photographed items of interest and collected evidence for forensic analysis.

According to reports, police were investigating claims that clothing linked to the alleged offenders may have been burned and dumped at the secondary location. Forensic teams and detectives spent hours searching the site, which remained under police guard while evidence was gathered.

The investigation progressed rapidly, with police arresting three people believed to be connected to the stabbing. A 38-year-old man from Lovely Banks was taken into custody on Sunday evening. Early the following morning, a 28-year-old woman from Corio and a 34-year-old man from Norlane were arrested at a property in Horsham. All three were expected to be interviewed by detectives.

Witnesses described the attack as shocking, particularly because it occurred in broad daylight in a residential neighbourhood. One resident who attempted to assist the victim said the incident had deeply affected the local community.

Victoria Police have confirmed the homicide investigation remains ongoing and are continuing to appeal for information from the public. Detectives are seeking CCTV footage, dashcam recordings and witness accounts that could help establish the movements of those involved before and after the incident.

Authorities have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers as forensic examinations and interviews continue. Investigators hope the evidence recovered from both crime scenes will help clarify the circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation.
