Detectives from the Armed and Violent Crime Squad have been investigating the case under Strike Force Held. The investigation began after police received reports that a 36-year-old woman had allegedly been kidnapped in Epping, a suburb in Sydney's north-west.
According to police, the original incident occurred at approximately 6:45 pm on Saturday, 20 April 2024. Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command were called to the area after receiving information about a woman who had allegedly been forced into a Toyota Camry by a group of unknown men.

The following afternoon, on Sunday, 21 April 2024, detectives located the woman at another address in western Sydney.
Police said the woman told investigators that she had allegedly been drugged and sexually assaulted before being found. Detectives arranged for her to receive medical attention, and she was taken to hospital for treatment.
The investigation continued over the following months as detectives worked to establish the involvement of several suspects.
Two men, aged 29 and 37, had previously been charged in connection with the investigation. Police confirmed that both matters had already been dealt with by the courts.
As part of continuing inquiries, detectives identified another suspected participant, a 31-year-old man who was located in Victoria.

Police refused bail, and the man was scheduled to appear before Bail Division Court 7 on Saturday, 31 October 2026.
Detectives are continuing their investigation under Strike Force Held to establish all relevant circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.
The latest arrest represents another development in a serious investigation that began more than two years ago. Authorities have not indicated that the investigation has concluded.
The accused man's charges remain allegations and will be determined through the court process. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
