House of Representatives after winning the federal seat of Farrer with 57.4 per cent of the two-candidate-preferred vote. In a landmark result for Australian politics, David Farley has won the Division of Farrer by-election, marking the first time a candidate from Pauline Hanson's One Nation has been elected to the House of Representatives. Farley secured 57.4 per cent of the final vote count, defeating independent candidate Michelle Milthorpe, who received 42.6 per cent. He led in all but five of the electorate’s 94 polling booths and recorded strong support in regional centres including Hay and Balranald. On first preferences, Farley polled 39.5 per cent, ahead of Milthorpe on 28.4 per cent. Liberal, National and minor party candidates shared the remaining vote, while the Australian Labor Party did not field a candidate. In his victory speech, Farley said he would focus on issues including water buybacks, net zero policies and immigration when he takes his seat in federal parliament. Pauline Hanson congratulated him, saying the people of Farrer would no longer be overlooked. Milthorpe was praised by Climate 200 co-convenor Kate Hook for her strong grassroots campaign, while independent candidate Gary Pappin also congratulated Farley and commended the Australian Electoral Commission for administering the election smoothly.
