The Pacific Airshow is set to make a spectacular return to the Gold Coast from 14 to 16 August 2026, promising one of Australia's most exciting aviation events. After the 2025 event was cancelled due to beach damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Alfred, organisers have unveiled an expanded line-up of military aircraft, aerobatic teams and international performers for this year's three-day celebration.
Visitors can expect breathtaking flying displays over Surfers Paradise as some of the world's most advanced military aircraft take to the skies. Leading the program is the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F-35A Lightning II, Australia's fifth-generation stealth fighter, renowned for its speed, agility and advanced combat technology. Joining the F-35 will be the popular RAAF Roulettes, whose precision aerobatic formations have become a favourite at airshows across the country.
The event will also feature an impressive collection of historic aircraft, including the P-40 Kittyhawk, CAC Mustang, and C-47 Dakota, offering spectators a rare opportunity to witness aviation history in flight. These iconic warbirds will perform alongside modern aircraft, showcasing the evolution of military aviation through the decades.
International performers are expected to add even more excitement. Demonstrations from the United States Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey, the US Air Force Wings of Blue Parachute Team, aerobatic pilot Matt Hall, and several world-class civilian display teams will provide continuous entertainment throughout the weekend. The combination of military demonstrations, parachute displays, stunt flying and precision aerobatics is expected to make this year's event the biggest edition yet.
Organisers say the Pacific Airshow has become one of Australia's premier tourism events, attracting aviation enthusiasts, families and visitors from across the country and overseas. Nearly 300,000 spectators are expected to attend over the three days, generating an estimated $26 million in economic benefits for the Gold Coast through tourism, accommodation, dining and local businesses.
Tourism and local government leaders have welcomed the event's return, highlighting its importance in promoting the Gold Coast as an international destination for major events. The airshow's unique beachside setting allows visitors to enjoy world-class aviation displays against the backdrop of Surfers Paradise, creating an experience unlike any other in Australia.
With its combination of modern fighter jets, vintage warbirds, elite aerobatic pilots and family-friendly entertainment, the Pacific Airshow is expected to deliver an unforgettable weekend for aviation fans and visitors alike. The expanded line-up reinforces the event's growing international reputation and further strengthens the Gold Coast's position as a leading destination for world-class sporting and entertainment events.
