New South Wales Police have released CCTV images of a man as part of an investigation into an alleged offensive behaviour incident in Double Bay, an eastern suburb of Sydney.

The police appeal was issued on Saturday, 31 October 2026, following an incident reported earlier in the week.

According to NSW Police, officers attached to the Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were called to Kiaora Lane, Double Bay, at approximately 10:20 am on Thursday, 29 October.

Police received reports that an unknown man had allegedly been making offensive comments in the area. The comments reportedly caused concern among people nearby.

When officers arrived, they were informed that the man had already left the location.

Police subsequently commenced an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the person involved.

As part of their inquiries, detectives examined available CCTV footage from the surrounding area. Investigators later released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

Police described the man as being of Caucasian appearance and believed to be in his 50s. He reportedly has grey hair and uses crutches as a walking aid.

At the time of the reported incident, he was wearing a black shirt featuring a skull and bones graphic, blue jeans and black slides.

The CCTV release is intended to help police identify the individual and obtain information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the exact words allegedly used or confirmed whether the incident involved any physical confrontation.

Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone who was in Kiaora Lane around 10:20 am on Thursday to consider whether they witnessed the behaviour or have relevant footage.

Investigators are particularly interested in CCTV recordings from nearby businesses, residential buildings and vehicles travelling through the area.

Members of the public who recognise the person shown in the released CCTV images or have information about the incident are encouraged to contact Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command.

Information can also be provided confidentially through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police have reminded the public not to post information about the investigation on NSW Police social media pages and instead use the official reporting channels.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrest had been announced in the police statement issued on 31 October.
