were fatally shot while executing a search warrant at his rural property in August 2025. Andrew Swift, the owner of the rural Porepunkah property where Dezi Freeman fatally shot two Victoria Police officers, has spoken publicly about helping a third officer who was critically wounded during the attack. In an interview released online, Swift said the injured officer was bleeding heavily from a gunshot wound to his lower body and needed urgent transport to an ambulance. He told attending police he would retrieve a more suitable vehicle after determining that his Kubota all-terrain vehicle was not appropriate for safely moving the officer. The shooting occurred on August 26, 2025, when officers attended the property to execute a search warrant. Two officers were killed and a third sustained serious injuries in one of the deadliest attacks on police in Victoria in recent years. A coronial inquest into the fatal shooting is scheduled to take place later this month and is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the emergency response.
