The Queensland Government has unveiled a new fuel security strategy aimed at boosting local fuel refining, storage, and supply capacity across the state. Premier David Crisafulli and Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie announced the launch of the Accelerating Fuel Infrastructure Program, inviting industry proposals for new fuel storage and refinery developments on government-owned land and port sites. Key locations include Brisbane, Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone, Abbot Point, and Bundaberg. The initiative includes a statewide audit of industrial land, faster approval pathways, and support for projects designed to strengthen Queensland’s long-term fuel security and energy resilience.
