A 24-year-old Queensland man has been charged in connection with a major organised-crime investigation following the seizure of approximately 390 kilograms of methamphetamine in New South Wales.

The report was published on 22 October 2026, although the man's arrest and the original drug seizure occurred earlier in the year. NSW Police Organised Crime Squad detectives are continuing their investigation into a suspected criminal network believed to have links to an offshore syndicate.

The investigation, known as Strike Force Golporta, began after police examined suspected drug-related activity involving an alleged onshore facilitator. Investigators believe the person was coordinating operations on behalf of an offshore criminal organisation.

On 28 April 2026, detectives executed a search warrant at a property in Emu Plains, western Sydney. During the search, police allegedly discovered 39 large buckets and 140 boxes containing foam and other packaging materials consistent with a drug extraction process.

Specialist officers from the Drug and Firearms Squad's Chemical Operations Unit and Technical Forensic Support Unit attended the property. Fire and Rescue NSW also assisted in safely processing the scene.

Police subsequently determined that each of the 39 buckets contained approximately 10 kilograms of methamphetamine. The total seizure was estimated at around 390 kilograms, with a potential street value of $32 million.

Investigators later traced further alleged activity to Queensland. On 7 October, officers stopped a vehicle in Ipswich at approximately 1:40pm and arrested the 24-year-old man. Queensland Police assisted NSW detectives with the investigation and extradition process.

The man was transferred to Tweed Heads Police Station on the evening of 8 October and formally charged. He faces one count of supplying a prohibited drug in a quantity greater than a large commercial quantity and one count of participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.

He was refused bail and was due to appear before a Local Court bail division on 9 October. The charges remain allegations and will be dealt with through the court process.

Police said 12 other people had previously been charged during the broader investigation and remained before the courts. The latest charges indicate that investigators have continued pursuing suspected participants beyond the original seizure.

Large-scale methamphetamine investigations often involve examining packaging, transport arrangements, financial links and communications to identify the individuals allegedly responsible for coordinating distribution. In this case, police have described the investigation as targeting a suspected facilitator connected to an offshore syndicate, but the publicly released information does not establish the full structure of the alleged network.

The case highlights the scale of organised-drug investigations spanning state borders. Authorities have not announced that the investigation is complete, and further developments may emerge as proceedings involving the accused individuals continue.

All charges are allegations, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
