Emergency services responded to a major vehicle fire incident on the Bruce Highway near Calliope, Queensland, after three cars caught fire and flames spread into nearby grassland.
The incident occurred near Brendonna Road, Calliope, close to Gladstone, where Queensland Fire Department crews were called to manage the blaze. Firefighters arrived at the scene at around 3:15pm and worked to bring the vehicle fires and surrounding grass fire under control.
Five fire crews attended the incident as emergency workers battled the flames and ensured the area was safe for motorists travelling along one of Queensland’s busiest highways.
Police were also present at the scene, while Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics assessed the situation. Authorities had not confirmed the cause of the fire at the time of the latest update, with investigations expected to continue.
