Two men have been charged after a man was allegedly shot and injured at a unit complex in Liverpool, in Sydney's south-west, with police continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Emergency services were called to Charles Street, Liverpool, at approximately 12:40 pm on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, following reports of a shooting. Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended the scene and found a 32-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before transporting him to hospital for further medical treatment. His condition was not detailed in the police statement.

Police established a crime scene at the unit complex, and detectives began investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Investigators carried out inquiries to identify those allegedly involved and establish what had happened before the incident.

Following their investigation, detectives arrested two men, aged 39 and 44, at a hotel in Strathfield on Thursday, 1 October.

The 39-year-old man was taken to Auburn Police Station, where he was charged with being an accessory after the fact to discharge a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was refused bail and was due to appear before Burwood Local Court on Friday, 2 October.

The 44-year-old man was taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was also refused bail and was due to appear before Bankstown Local Court on 2 October.

Police have not publicly detailed the alleged motive for the shooting or the relationship, if any, between the accused men and the injured man. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

The arrests followed inquiries conducted by Liverpool detectives after the shooting. Police have not indicated whether further arrests are expected or whether additional charges may be laid as the investigation progresses.

The incident has brought attention to firearm-related crime in the Liverpool area. Police investigations of this kind involve gathering evidence, examining the circumstances of the alleged offence and presenting relevant information through the court process.
